THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The last days of the 13th Kerala Assembly will commence on Wednesday, after a brief recess of a few days. The business of the short session, which began on a February 5-25 schedule, was suspended on last Thursday, amid unabated disruption of the House proceedings by the Opposition LDF with virulent protests and demand for the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and a few other ‘tainted’ ministers alleged to have a connect in the solar and bar scams.
The cream of business in the budget session will be taken up tomorrow - discussions on the vote on account. It will be followed by voting. The introduction of the Finance Appropriation Bill, 2016, and the fulfilment of related procedures and presentation of the Kerala Finance Bill, 2016, the other key businesses, are also slated for the day. Given the reported mood of the Opposition Left to continue with protests and disrupt the proceedings, it is expected that Speaker N Sakthan may finish the job to the liking of the government by guillotining listed business.
